Item Electricity transportation using HVDC technology for Algerian southern sun power plants(2023-08-01) Nedjem Eddine Benchouia; Mohammed SAAIDIA; Abdelghani GUECHIAlgeria is worldly known as one of the big producers and exporters of fossil fuels. However, by developing an adequate energy policy, it could become one of the great sun power (SP) producers and exporters. Indeed with almost 2 million Km2 sunny superficies, the country detains enormous SP energetic potential funds. However, eventual powerful SP plants deployment could be done far to the southern Algerian desert which makes HVDC technology the best candidate for the transmission of produced electricity towards the north region where are the main industrial poles and the most populated regions for local consumption and eventually farther to the north for electricity exportation to the European countries. Theprospection work presented hereafter is a study on the feasibility of using HVDC technology for such possible projects according to country’s existingmeans and topographical and environmental characteristics.Item Reliability analysis of irregular zones in pipelines under both effects of corrosion and residual stress(Elsevier, 2019-04-01) Nahal Mourad; Chateauneuf Alaa; Sahraoui YacineItem DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF A DECISION MAKING TOOL FOR FAULT DIAGNOSIS OF TURBOCOMPRESSOR BASED ON BAYESIAN NETWORK AND FAULT TREE(Production Engineering Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Polish Association for Production Management, 2019-06-28) Lakehal Abdelaziz; Nahal Mourad; Harouz RiadhItem Reactive energy compensator STATCOM effect on reliability of a complex electrical system using Bayesian networks(Eksploatacja i Niezawodnosc–Maintenance and Reliability, 2020) Sahraoui Yacine; Reffas Omar; Nahal MouradItem The effect of welded joint repair on a corroded pipeline reliability subjected to the hardness spatial variability and soil aggressiveness(Elsevier, 2020-12-01) Sahraoui Yacine; Benamira Mohamed; Nahal MouradItem A finite element model for estimating time-dependent reliability of a corroded pipeline elbow(Emerald, 2021-04-13) Nahal Mourad; Khelif RabiaItem Numerical study for reliability assessment of a corroding pipe to flange weld joint over its lifetime(Faculty of Engineering/Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Rijeka, 2021-09-27) Nahal Mourad; Lakehal Abdelaziz; Khelif RabiaItem System reliability of corroded pipelines considering spatial and stochastic dependency in irregular zones(Elsevier, 2023-08-06) Nahal Mourad; Sahraoui Yacine; Chateauneuf Alaa; Khelif RabiaThis paper presents a probabilistic methodology for assessing the system reliability of corroded pipelines subjected to spatial and stochastic dependency, taking into account irregular zones (elbows, weld joints, and flanges). The space-variant corrosion and residual stress are considered by the mean of Karhunen-Loève expansion in order to take into account spatial variability of residual stress and soil aggressiveness over the pipe's entire length. The failure probability is evaluated by a series system combination using Monte Carlo simulations. Finally, the proposed model is applied to gas pipeline crossing several soil types in order to show the effects of the main parameters of the system, where the irregular zones have a significant influence on the pipeline system reliability and that the developed model can provide valuable information for decision-makers to improve system reliability performance.Item An Overview Of Photovoltaic Power Plant (PV) Connection To HVDC Grid(IEEE, 2023) Nedjem Eddine Benchouia; Abdelghani GUECHI; Mohammed SAAIDIASolar energy is considered one of the most important alternative and renewable energies for the production of electricity so solar power plants work to produce direct current, which is then converted into alternating current through DC-AC converters and linked to power transmission networks of alternating current. But since most of the large solar PV plants are built in areas far from the load, the world is moving today to transfer power directly from solar panels to high voltage HVDC grid, due to the advantages that HVDC provides such as lower transmission loss, low cost and higher efficiency compared to HVAC. In this paper, we present an overview of recent studies dealing with Photovoltaic Power Plant Connections to HVDC Grid and the comparison between these systems.Item Modeling, Optimization, and Techno-Economic Assessment of a Hybrid System Composed of Photovoltaic-Wind-Fuel Cell and Battery Bank(IIETA, 2023) Nedjem Eddine Benchouia; Kamilia Boucenna; Toufik SebbaghDecentralized electricity production from renewable energy sources offers greater security of supply to consumers while respecting the environment. However, the random nature of these sources requires us to establish rules for the sizing and use of these systems in order to make the best use of them. Hybrid renewable energy sources can effectively meet the electric energy needs of the University of Skikda's various structures. This study examines the financial viability of a hybrid renewable-based system that is off the grid and proposed to supply several campuses of the University of Skikda in Algeria with the electricity they need. In order to achieve this, HOMER software is used to optimize and simulate the system under consideration. The results obtained recommend using a system made up of a wind turbine, solar panels, a battery bank, and a fuel cell that can produce electricity at a levelized cost of 0.193 €/kWh.
