Abstract

Abstract: The dissertation "Sufi Orders in Algeria during the Ottoman Era: The Qadiriyya Order as a Model" explores the phenomenon of Sufism as a spiritual and cultural component in the religious and social history of Algeria during the Ottoman period. It sheds light on the most prominent Sufi orders that witnessed wide spread in Algeria, foremost among them the Qadiriyya order, which is considered one of the oldest and earliest to spread. The study discusses how it emerged in Algeria, tracing its origins and development, and its transmission from the East to the Islamic Maghreb through Sheikh Abu Madyan Shu'ayb. It also examines the profound impact the order had on the spiritual and social life of Algerian society. Furthermore, the dissertation covers the most significant figures and branches of this order that were active in Algeria during the Ottoman era, allowing for a deeper understanding of the role it played in shaping the features of local Sufism. This study relies on the descriptive historical method in recounting important events, and occasionally on the analytical method, as the nature of the subject requires not only narration and linkage of events but also their study and analysis . -------------------------------- ملخص باللغة العربية : تتناول مذكرة "الطرق الصوفية في الجزائر خلال العهد العثماني الطريقة القادرية أنموذجا "ظاهرة التصوف,باعتبارها مكونا روحيا وثقافيا في التاريخ الديني والاجتماعي للجزائر خلال العهد العثماني ,حيث تسلط الضوء على أبرز الطرق الصوفية التي عرفت إنتشارا واسعا في الجزائر,وفي مقدمتها الطريقة القادرية التي تعد من أقدم الطرق الصوفية وأولها إنتشارا وتناقش كيفية نشأتها وتطورها وصولا لانتقالها من المشرق إلى المغرب الاسلامي عن طريق الشيخ أبي مدين شعيب ومدى تأثيرها العميق في الحياة الروحية والاجتماعية للمجتمع الجزائري ,كما تغطي المذكرة أيضا أهم أعلام وفروع هذه الطريقة التي نشطت في الجزائر خلال العهد العثماني ,ذلك الذي يسمح بفهم أعمق للدور الذي لعبه في تشكيل ملامح التصوف المحلي,وتعتمد هذه الدراسة على المنهج التاريخي الوصفي في سرد الاحداث المهمة والمنهج التحليلي أحيانا فطبيعة الموضوع لا تتوقف على سرد الاحداث ووصلها بل دراستها وتحليلها ------------------------------ Résumé: Le mémoire intitulé "Les confréries soufies en Algérie à l’époque ottomane : la confrérie Qadiriyya comme modèle" traite du phénomène du soufisme en tant que composante spirituelle et culturelle de l’histoire religieuse et sociale de l’Algérie durant la période ottomane. Il met en lumière les principales confréries soufies qui se sont largement répandues en Algérie, notamment la Qadiriyya, considérée comme l’une des plus anciennes et des premières à s’y être implantée. Le mémoire examine les circonstances de son apparition en Algérie, retraçant son origine, son évolution, ainsi que son transfert du Machrek vers le Maghreb islamique par le biais du cheikh Abû Madyan Shuʿayb, et son influence profonde sur la vie spirituelle et sociale de la société algérienne. L’étude couvre également les principales figures et branches de cette confrérie qui ont été actives en Algérie durant l’époque ottomane, ce qui permet une compréhension plus approfondie du rôle qu’elle a joué dans la formation des caractéristiques du soufisme local. Ce travail s’appuie sur une approche historico-descriptive pour relater les événements importants, et parfois sur une méthode analytique, car la nature du sujet ne se limite pas à une simple narration, mais nécessite également une étude et une analyse approfondies.
