Abstract

Summary The study by Hatuto and Lortunio is considered one of the most important colonial works that addressed the tribal community in Algeria during the 19th century. This community had unique cultural and social characteristics, which attracted the interest of researchers and Orientalists. The aim of the study is to understand the social life of the region, especially the customs and laws that distinguished it from other Algerian communities. Additionally, it sheds light on the various sanctions that were prevalent in the area, which contributed to maintaining the social and judicial order within the society. ----------------------- ملخص تعتبر دراسة كل من هاتوتو ولوتورنو من أهم الأعمال الكالونيالية التي تناولت الحديث عن المجتمع القبائلي في الجزائر خلال القرن التاسع عشر التي كانت ذات خصوصية ثقافية واجتماعية مما جذب اهتمام الباحثين والمستشرقين، حيث تهدف الدراسة إلى فهم الحياة الاجتماعية للمنطقة خاصة جانب الأعراف والقوانين التي ميزته عن باقي المجتمعات الجزائرية الأخرى، إلى جانب تسليط الضوء على مختلف العقوبات التي كانت سائدة في المنطقة التي ساهمت بدورها في حفظ النظام الاجتماعي والقضائي داخل المجتمع. -------------------------------------- Résumé L’étude de Hatuto et Lortunio est considérée comme l’une des œuvres coloniales les plus importantes qui ont abordé la société tribale en Algérie au XIXe siècle. Cette société possédait une spécificité culturelle et sociale, ce qui a suscité l’intérêt des chercheurs et des orientalistes. La étude vise à comprendre la vie sociale de la région, en particulier les coutumes et les lois qui la distinguaient des autres sociétés algériennes. Elle met également en lumière les différentes sanctions en vigueur dans la région, qui ont contribué à préserver l’ordre social et judiciaire au sein de la communauté.
