Item Chemical Composition and Antibacterial Activity of Algerian Launaea nudicaulis Essential oils(International Scientific Organization, 2020) FADJKHI Narjes , ,; HAMEURLAINE Samir; Fellaha Ouroud; DJERMANE Mohamed et alThe chemical analyses of Launaea nudicaulis essential oils by GC/MS allowed the identification of 94.1% of the crude oil affording 50 volatile compounds. The major components are: β-caryophyllene 7.9%, (E)-β-farnesene 7.6%, β-selinene 9.9%, Spathulenol 4.9%, α-cadinol 5.9%, haxadecanoic acid 17.3%. The IC50 of their scavenging activity is found to be 1.94 mg/mL. Moreover, the extract reveals a average in vitro antimicrobial activity on some strains, confirmed by the inhibition zone diameter ranging from 6 to 14.5 mm depending on the microorganism being tested.
