Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the manifestations of dystopian discourse (the literature of the corrupt city) in the contemporary Arabic novel, focusing on the novel "Utopia" by Ahmed Khaled Towfik. Utilizing a structural-thematic approach, the study aims to deconstruct the nightmarish structure of the novel, which extrapolates a near future (the year 2023) where society is sharply divided into two distinct classes: the ultra-wealthy living within fortified walls, and the marginalized poor ("The Others"). The study concludes that the novel successfully subverts the concept of idealism (utopia) to deliver a dire warning and a sharp sociological critique, exposing the realities of extreme class disparities and the collapse of human and moral values. ----------------- ملخص: تبحث هذه الدراسة في تجليات خطاب الديستوبيا (أدب المدينة الفاسدة) في الرواية العربية المعاصرة من خلال رواية "يوتوبيا" لأحمد خالد توفيق. تهدف الدراسة عبر المنهج البنيوي الموضوعاتي إلى تفكيك البنية الكابوسية للرواية التي استشرفت مستقبلاً قريباً (عام 2023) ينقسم فيه المجتمع حاداً بين طبقتين: أثرياء داخل الأسوار، وفقراء مسحوقين ("الأغيار"). وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن الرواية نجحت في قلب مفهوم المثالية (اليوتوبيا) لتقدم صرخة تحذيرية ونقداً سوسيولوجياً لاذعاً يمهد لتعرية واقع الفوارق الطبقية والانهيار القيمي والإنساني --------------------- Résumé: Cette étude examine les manifestations du discours dystopique (la littérature de la cité corrompue) dans le roman arabe contemporain, à travers l'œuvre "Utopie" d'Ahmed Khaled Towfik. En s'appuyant sur l'approche structurale-thématique, l'étude vise à déconstruire la structure cauchemardesque du roman, qui anticipe un avenir proche (l'an 2023) caractérisé par une division sociale radicale entre deux classes : les riches retranchés derrière les murs, et les pauvres opprimés ("Les Autres"). L'étude conclut que le roman réussit à renverser le concept d'idéalisme (l'utopie) pour lancer un cri d'alarme et une critique sociologique acerbe, mettant à nu les dangers des disparités de classes ainsi que l'effondrement des valeurs humaines et morales
