Abstract

Summary : This study aims to analyze the deep semantic structure in the poetry of Ahmed Matar through selected poems representing political and religious themes. It also connects each poem with political cartoons by Naji al-Ali to reveal deeper meanings and highlight the relationship between poetic symbols and visual imagery within a shared discourse of resistance. The central research question is: How are political and religious meanings manifested in Matar’s poetry, and to what extent are they connected to Naji al-Ali’s cartoons? The study adopts a descriptive approach, supported by semiotic tools to analyze the cartoons. It is structured into two main chapters: - Theoretical Chapter: Covers semantics according to Arab and Western linguists, semantic theories, and the relationship between semantics, grammar, morphology, phonology, and semiotics. - Applied Chapter: Analyzes two poems (Down with the Homeland and You Were Rude), and explores the semantic connection between the poems and the cartoons, showing how both texts and images contribute to a unified message of resistance. ------------------ الملخص تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل البنية الدلالية في شعر أحمد مطر من خلال نماذج مختارة تمثل البعدين السياسي والديني، مع الربط بين هذه النماذج ورسومات الكاريكاتير للفنان ناجي العلي، للكشف عن أعمق المعاني وتوضيح الترابط بين النص الشعري والصورة في إطار خطاب مقاوم مشترك. تتمثل إشكالية البحث في: كيف تتجلى الدلالة السياسية والدينية في شعر أحمد مطر؟ وما مدى ارتباطها بكاريكاتير ناجي العلي؟ اعتمد البحث على المنهج الوصفي، مع توظيف آليات من المنهج السيميائي لتحليل الرسوم. وقد تم تقسيمه إلى فصلين: الفصل النظري: تناول علم الدلالة عند العرب والغربيين، نظرياته، وعلاقته بالنحو والصرف والأصوات والسيميولوجيا. الفصل التطبيقي: تضمّن تحليل قصيدتين (يسقط الوطن وقلت أدب)، ثم ربط المعاني المستخرجة بالكاريكاتير لتبيان العلاقة الدلالية بين النص والصورة ------------------ Résumé Cette étude vise à analyser la structure sémantique profonde dans la poésie d’Ahmed Matar à travers des poèmes choisis abordant les thèmes politiques et religieux. Elle établit également un lien entre chaque poème et les caricatures politiques de Naji al-Ali, afin de révéler des significations plus profondes et de mettre en lumière la relation entre les symboles poétiques et l’image visuelle dans un discours commun de résistance. La problématique principale est la suivante : Comment les significations politiques et religieuses se manifestent-elles dans la poésie de Matar, et dans quelle mesure sont-elles liées aux caricatures de Naji al-Ali ? La recherche repose sur une méthode descriptive, appuyée par des outils d’analyse sémiotique pour l’étude des caricatures. Elle est structurée en deux chapitres principaux : - Chapitre théorique : Traite de la sémantique selon les linguistes arabes et occidentaux, des théories sémantiques, ainsi que de la relation entre sémantique, grammaire, morphologie, phonétique et sémiotique. - Chapitre appliqué : Analyse deux poèmes (À bas la patrie et Tu étais impoli), puis explore la relation sémantique entre les poèmes et les caricatures, en montrant comment lestextes et les images participent à un message unifié de résistance
