Abstract

This study aims to examine the contribution of electronic human resource management (e-HRM) in its three dimensions (operational, relational, and transformational) to the achievement of performance excellence in Algerian start-ups. To accomplish this objective, a quantitative method was adopted based on a structured questionnaire distributed to a sample of 100 start-ups, from which 51 valid responses were collected. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through Smart-PLS, complemented by additional analyses performed with SPSS v26. The results revealed that e-HRM exerts a positive and significant effect on performance excellence. Among its dimensions, the transformational dimension demonstrated the strongest influence, followed by the operational dimension, while the relational dimension did not show a significant effect. This finding is attributed to the small size of start-ups; the simplicity of their structures, and their reliance on informal communication channels. Based on these results, the study recommends strengthening the relational dimension of e-HRM by developing interactive platforms and electronic practices that support participation and feedback. Such initiatives would help transform the operational and transformational efficiencies already achieved into more sustainable outcomes in terms of performance excellence.
