Investigating the Role of Teachers in Increasing EFL Students’ Motivation in learning The Case of Second Year LMD Students of English at the University of Souk-Ahras.

This dissertation aims to investigate the role of teachers in increasing EFL students’ motivation in learning and to determine what strategies teachers can use to enhance students’ motivation to learn effectively. To test the main hypothesis that suggests the possibility of enhancing students’ motivation to learn when teachers play effective roles by using the appropriate teaching strategies. The research opted for a mixed methods approach to collect both quantitative and qualitative data. First, a students’ questionnaire was distributed to 30 second year students at the Department of English at university of souk-Ahras. Secondly, a structured interview was conducted with seven EFL teachers from the same Department, to obtain information about the teachers’ roles in the teaching and learning process, and how to enhance the EFL students’ motivation for better achievement. The gathered data have illustrated that teachers play an effective role in enhancing EFL students’ motivation by using the appropriate teaching strategies. Thus, based on these results, the hypothesis is confirmed. To this end, a number of accentuated recommendations and suggestions are proposed for further research.

Cette thèse vise à étudier le rôle des enseignants dans l’augmentation de la motivation des élèves EFL dans l’apprentissage et à déterminer quelles stratégies les enseignants peuvent utiliser pour améliorer la motivation des élèves à apprendre efficacement. Tester l’hypothèse principale qui suggère la possibilité d’améliorer la motivation des élèves à apprendre lorsque les enseignants jouent un rôle efficace en utilisant les stratégies d’enseignement appropriées. . La recherche a opté pour une approche de méthodes mixtes pour collecter des données quantitatives et qualitatives. Tout d’abord, un questionnaire destiné aux étudiants a été distribué à 30 étudiants de deuxième année du département d’anglais de l’université de Souk-Ahras. Deuxièmement, un entretien structuré a été mené avec sept enseignants EFL du même département, afin d’obtenir des informations sur le rôle des enseignants dans le processus d’enseignement et d’apprentissage, et sur la manière de renforcer la motivation des élèves EFL pour de meilleurs résultats. . Les données recueillies ont montré que les enseignants jouent un rôle efficace dans l’amélioration de la motivation des élèves EFL en utilisant les stratégies d’enseignement appropriées, Ainsi, sur la base de ces résultats, l’hypothèse est confirmée. À cette fin, un certain nombre de recommandations et de suggestions accentuées sont proposées pour la poursuite des recherches.
