dc.description.abstractAbstract This study aims at investigating the effectiveness of the process approach in developing and improving students' writing proficiency of the second year bachelor students of English Language at Mohamed Cherif Messaadia University, in Souk-Ahras. To test the main hypothesis, which suggests the possibility of developing the students' writing proficiency by making them aware of the writing process as an extensive act which entails different stages through the use of the process approach, a students' questionnaire was distributed among second 1 year bachelor students. The gathered data have illustrated that the process approach has a positive impact on developing learners' writing skill, by facilitating the writing task and making them more aware and conscious of the writing stages that would make their writings easier and more effective. Based on these results, the hypothesis is confirmed. In the light of this, students need to adopt and make use of the process approach during their writing process in order to help them develop their writing proficiencies.
