The Influence of Free Writing on Writing Fluency Case study of Master One EFL Students of English at the University of Souk-Ahras

Abstract

Abstract Free writing is one of the basic skills for learners, which facilitates the writing process; Researchers and writers disagree on its meaning. This sparked a debate about the validity of free writing. The current study aims to discover different perspectives on the use and application of free writing and whether it is effective in achieving writing fluency or not. Aiming to test the main hypotheses, a questionnaire was distributed to both teachers and master one student. During the second semester, (2022-2023). Follow that, quantitative analysis of data collected from teachers and students surveys by numbers and percentages the research findings revealed the efficiency of free writing for students to improve their performance, based on students and teachers’ views. At the end of this research, responses from students and teachers generally supported the hypotheses presented. Based on the analysis of the results, the impotence of free writing in the English as a Foreign Language classroom should be emphasized, and teachers should also be invited to adopt free writing for the development of their teaching and learning processes. ----------------------- ملخص تعتبر الكتابة الحرة من المهارات الأساسية للمتعلمين، مما يسهل عملية الكتابة؛ الباحثين و يختلف الكتاب حول معناها. أثار هذا جدلاً حول مدى صحة الكتابة الحرة. الحالي تهدف الدراسة إلى اكتشاف وجهات نظر مختلفة حول استخدام وتطبيق الكتابة الحرة وما إذا كانت كذلك فعالة في تحقيق الطلاقة في الكتابة أم لا. تهدف إلى اختبار الفرضيات الرئيسية، تم إجراء استبيان توزع على كل من المعلمين وطالب واحد الماجستير. خلال الفصل الدراسي الثاني (2022-2023). يتبع ذلك، التحليل الكمي للبيانات التي تم جمعها من المسوحات الاستقصائية للمعلمين والطلاب حسب الأرقام و وقد كشفت نتائج البحث عن كفاءة الكتابة الحرة للطلاب في تحسين مهاراتهم الأداء بناء على آراء الطلاب والمعلمين. وفي نهاية هذا البحث ردود من أيد الطلاب والمعلمون بشكل عام الفرضيات المقدمة. بناءً على تحليل النتائج، يجب أن يكون عجز الكتابة الحرة في اللغة الإنجليزية كفصل دراسي للغة الأجنبية وشدد على ضرورة دعوة المعلمين أيضًا إلى اعتماد الكتابة الحرة لتطوير مهاراتهم عمليات التعليم والتعلم. ---------------------- Résumé L'écriture libre est l'une des compétences de base des apprenants. Ce qui facilite le processus d’écriture ; Les chercheurs et les écrivains ne sont pas d’accord sur sa signification. Cela a déclenché un débat sur la validité de l’écriture libre. L'étude actuelle vise à découvrir différentes perspectives sur l'utilisation et l'application de l'écriture libre et si elle est efficace ou non pour maîtriser l'écriture. De plus, dans le but de tester les principales hypothèses, un questionnaire a été distribué aux enseignants et aux étudiants de premier cycle. Au cours du deuxième semestre (2023-2024). Ensuite, une analyse quantitative des données collectées à partir d'enquêtes sur les enseignants et les étudiants en chiffres et en pourcentages a révélé l'efficacité de l'écriture libre pour les étudiants afin d'améliorer leurs performances, sur la base des points de vue des étudiants et des enseignants. Au terme de cette recherche, les réponses des étudiants et des enseignants soutiennent généralement les hypothèses présentées. Sur la base de l'analyse des résultats, il convient de souligner l'impuissance de l'écriture libre dans la classe d'anglais langue étrangère, et les enseignants doivent également être invités à adopter l'écriture libre pour le développement de leurs processus d'enseignement et d'apprentissage.
